Entrance to FIVE Wineries, Cider Tasting & Brewery:
*Penguin Bay Winery – Now in business for 3 generations, the Peterson Family Wineries are proud to produce some of the most acclaimed wines in the region. Penguin Bay Winery opened in 2005 on the east side of Seneca Lake at the site of the former Finger Lakes Champagne House. The concept for Penguin Bay began when the Humboldt Penguins came to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse. At that time we met with the zoo to start a sponsorship agreement with the zoo based on the sales of our new Penguin Bay wines, which were introduced in 2006. This relationship continues today, so purchasers of our wines help support our local penguins! Our Humboldt Red is a semi-dry red blend to honor the Humboldt Penguins, an endangered species native to the coast of Chile.
*Ryan Williams Vineyards – This vineyard is located in the heart of the Finger Lakes, on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake. With plantings extending to its shoreline, the microclimate mitigates the challenge most growers face in the region. Emphasis is paid to vineyard work which allows for minimal intervention in the cellar.
*Three Brothers (3 Wineries in one) (3 Wineries in 1 + Microbrewery) This HUGE winery offers three different wineries on premises and also offers beer tasting from their microbrewery and cider tasting too! Wineries in Three Brothers include:
Stony Lonesome Wine Cellars – A classic beauty of a tasting room with a breath-taking view of Seneca Lake.
Passion Feet Wine Barn – Aside from the refreshingly delicious wines and the famous Wine Slushie served in this tasting room, there’s endless amounts of gifts and trinkets to peruse.
Bagg Dare Wine Company – This bayou tasting room sits at the back of the campus accessible by an old dirt walking path.
War Horse Brewing Co. – Something’s always brewing at WHBC! From Custom Ales, Lagers and Seasonal Beers to our house-made Hard Ciders & Sodas you’re bound to find something that you like
After spending the day touring the wineries, we’re headed to our favorite restaurant Seneca Harbor Station (check out their website here) for a delicious sit-down dinner.
The dinner choices are:
- New York Strip: Half-pound, fresh cut strip steak grilled to order, with a signature fresh herb and garlic butter.
- Marinated Chicken Breast: Boneless chicken breasts marinated in zesty Italian seasonings topped with tomato fresca.
- Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms: Two grilled mushroom caps filled with a blend of veggies, topped with melted cheese and served over wilted spinach.
- Tilapia: Broiled tilapia in a cream chardonnay sauce with spinach and mushrooms
- Shrimp Pasta: Half lb. of tender shrimp, sautéed in our cream sauce and served over linguini
